Ruhee S Kahar
Ruhee is a PhD student at the University of Dundee studying stellar astrophysics and her research is about the evolution and properties of young intermediate-mass stars. She has been awarded observing time with different telescopes and uses these observations to measure the variability in the stars. By understanding the behaviour of these young stars, she can model their interaction with surrounding disks, the accretion processes, and the structure and geometry of star-disk systems, so that we can have a better understanding of the evolution of the solar system. Ruhee is also part of the North-PHASE legacy survey, where she has been investigating the stellar variability of the young stars distributed within the cluster NGC 2264, with an aim to find new young stars, characterise accretion and study the inner disk evolution within the cluster.
Ruhee has participated as a presenter at conferences, workshops, and other science outreach events. The outreach events have mostly catered towards young people to encourage an interest in STEM. Outside of her work, Ruhee is an avid aerial gymnast and electric guitar player.
